The State Library has established this blog to provide a mechanism for Louisiana libraries to alert the public about their status during an emergency situation and/or to provide information for their staffs. Any Louisiana library administrator may post information; anyone may comment.

New Orleans has a 311 phone line that can be used during emergencies. The 311 Call Center also serves as the information center during emergencies or disasters affecting the City of New Orleans. Residents who require evacuation assistance must register with the 311 Call Center. The hearing impaired can dial 504-658-2059 or 1-800-981-6652. Spanish and Vietnamese language assistance available.

CAEP is a program designed to help people who have no means of evacuating on their own. This may be due to financial need, unreliable or no transportation, or homelessness.

Emergency Public Information: During any type of major evacuation in the state, the Louisiana Emergency Alert System will broadcast evacuation information on all participating radio/tv stations for the affected areas.
