Bio

Jennifer Reeser was born in southern Louisiana and studied English in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

She is the author of An Alabaster Flask (Word Press, 2003), Winterproof, (Word Press, 2005) and Sonnets from the Dark Lady and Other Poems (Saint James Infirmary Books, 2012). de l’auteur.  Her poetry has been set to music by Lori Laitman, and Briareus, and  has been translated into Hindi by Dr. Dush Yant, and Tripurari Kumar Sharma, published on the subcontinent of India. Her work has received numerous nominations  for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net anthologies, as well as The Lyric Memorial Prize and the New England Prize. She is a mentor on faculty at the West Chester Poetry Conference.

Her work is included in anthologies such as Longman’s Literature: An Introduction to Fiction, Poetry and Drama (edited by X.J. Kennedy and Dana Gioia), as well as Phoenix Rising: The Next Generation of American Formal Poets. She has been featured at the POETRY Foundation site, Goodreads, E-Verse Radio and Verse Daily.


She received her first writing award while in high school,from  the Pulitzer Prize winner,Robert Olen Butler. Her work first appeared nationally in print in the early 1990’s.


Since then, her essays, reviews,verse and translations of Russian and French literature appearin publications including POETRY, The Hudson Review,  The Dark Horse, Pivot, Salt, The National Review,Louisiana Literature, Light Quarterly and The Formalist.

Program Biography:

Jennifer Reeser was born and raised in Lake Charles, her current home, where she attended McNeese State University. She has published poems and translations in journals including Poetry, The Hudson Review, and The National Review. Her most recent poetry book is Sonnets from the Dark Lady and Other Poems.
