Darrell Bourque is professor emeritus in English (University of Louisiana Lafayette) and a former Louisiana Poet Laureate. In 2007 Bourque was named the Louisiana Poet Laureate by Governor Kathleen Blanco and renamed to that position for 2009-2011 by Governor Bobby Jindal. He is the 2014 recipient of the Writer Award from the Louisiana Book Festival. His books include In Ordinary Light, Call and Response: Conversations in Verse (with Jack B. Bedell), Where I Waited, and Megan’s Guitar and Other Poems from Acadie. Two new books, From the Other Side: Henriette Delille (Yellow Flag Press) and migraré (UL Press), will be released later this year. Bourque is also recipient of the 2019 Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities Humanist of the Year Award.
