Resources for People Experiencing Homelessness

The resources in this guide are intended to help anyone in the Baton Rouge area currently experiencing homelessness. This guide was copied with permission from East Baton Rouge Public Library's InfoGuides.

One Stop Homeless Services Center

Capitol Area Alliance for the Homeless members provide Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, and Permanent Supportive Housing for chronically homeless individuals, persons with a range of disabilities, and families experiencing homelessness for the first time.  Additional services include outreach to the homeless, behavioral health referrals, substance abuse treatment, veteran’s services, life skills training, job training/placement, youth shelters, and literacy/GED classes.

Christian Outreach Center of Baton Rouge

The Christian Outreach Center provides one-time financial assistance for those in the Greater Baton Rouge area for utility disconnect notices. They also offer bus passes, meal bags, hygiene kits, and/or basic clothing. They provide a twice-yearly job training program called Job Readiness which is an eight-week course that includes instruction in communication, filling of applications for various services, and resume writing.

Catholic Charities Families First Program

 

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge

This organization serves those most in need with an array of comprehensive programs that include direct assistance, disaster recovery, adoption, child-welfare services, individual & family counseling, and comprehensive supportive services for pregnant women, refugees, families in poverty, and formerly incarcerated individuals. People of all faiths are welcome.

Iris Domestic Violence Center serves male and female survivors of dating and domestic violence and their children.

Volunteers of America - Greater Baton Rouge

 

Volunteers of America - Greater Baton Rouge

Provides services for the homeless, families, adults with disabilities, veterans, children, and the elderly. The Outreach program partners with a broad range of service providers to meet the needs of its homeless participants. The mobile van operates from 8am - 3pm Monday-Friday at a variety of locations, which can be found on the program's web page
