The Secretary of State's Voter Outreach Division provides electronic voting machines upon which students can cast their vote for their favorite book. The Secretary of State believes that this is an excellent civic and educational opportunity. The voting machines are available through the month of January. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee that the voting machines will be able to visit your school. The voting machines are very popular and hundreds of schools request them. The Secretary of State's Office accommodates as many school requests for voting machines as they can each year. If you are not able to have the voting machines this year, please request them again next year.
You may email or fax in your request.
When requesting the voting machines please include:
• Contact name and phone number
• School’s name and address
• Grade level(s) participating
• Approximate number of students participating in each grade level
• Be sure to send in your request NO LATER THAN December 1 to ensure you get a machine. Requests submitted after might be denied due to availability.
*Please remember that the voting machines do not send the votes to the State Library. You still must submit the tally of the votes to the State Library or your students' votes will not be counted.
