Louisiana Poets Laureate

Sylvia Davison Lott Buckley 1992-1996

She was born in the Little Creek Community on September 12, 1931 to the union of Thomas Jefferson Davidson and Ellie Hudson Davidson. She worked before her retirement as a Pharmacy Technician, also worked for the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Department and she was a homemaker. Her greatest honor was to serve as Poet Laureate of the State of Louisiana from 1992-96. She was an avid writer of poetry and loved reading the “old master’s” as she often stated. Mrs. Buckley loved classical music, tending her garden of flowers and traveling to new places with her husband. God and family were the center of all things in her life.
