Access to thousands of databases of genealogical and historical information. Subscriptions are required.

Available to patrons using it within the State Library of Louisiana. Check with your local library to see if it has a subscription. Personal subscriptions are also available for a cost.

Library of Congress database of scanned images of newspapers. Keyword searchable. Has Louisiana newspapers in the database.

A National Parks Service database that offers military information for Confederate and Union soldiers and sailors.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints searchable genealogy database.

A great place to locate possible ancestors in books; such as state annual reports, historical reports, etc.

A Searchable database of passenger lists that have been transcribed to the Internet. Includes the Port of New Orleans.

Part of a nationwide online database, but is specific to Louisiana. It is arranged by parish, has some searchable databases, transcribed information and lookup volunteers.

Arranged alphabetically by soldier’s surname with a summary of the soldier’s service record. Also in print as a three volume set.
